What's an extra you ask? Well, you see those people in the background of every single scene, of every single show? You know the ones in the background having cocktails in the bar on Cougar Town or at the fencing match on Modern Family? They are extras, and that could be you! Extras come in all shapes and sizes and there is no particular look or size warranted. An extra has an important role and is absolutely essential in all television, features, (movies), commercials etc. How weird would it be to have the actors walking down the street with no one else in sight? There is and always will be a need for you in the industry. A lot of stars started out on the same path that your on. Extra work is a wonderful way to get your feet wet and learn the basics of what is expected of you and what you should expect when you are on a set.


If you are planning on making acting your career of choice, extra work is a great way to get started. Or, if you're just looking for something to do that's different and still make a paycheck. You don't have to become an actor by doing this. If you just want a job that is definitely interesting extra work is also an option. While extra work is exciting you must also realize that it is a job and you must be serious and responsible when we cast you, you are expected to be there on time, with the proper wardrobe (which we will have told you about) and a smile on that cute face of yours. In other words professionalism and a great a great attitude are a must! There are many reputable casting agencies out there that have work for you. Being new to this industry please get references before signing with anyone and any money is exchanged. If you have questions you can feel free to email us and we will help you out. Most Casting Agencies charge anywhere from, $5 to $25 to join, not $100 or $75 or even $50 please keep this in mind. It isn't necessary for you to go out and join all of them just one or two are all you'll need to get started and then you can add more as you go. Two of the biggest and most reputable agencies out there are Sande Alessi casting aka The Casting Couch and Central Casting. It is highly suggested by us that you join these two for starters. If your interested in more and broadening your horizon we will be happy to give you a list of the others that we use and have built a strong working relationship with. Keep in mind this business has an indisputable draw and allure and there is always someone out there looking to make a fast buck off of the naïve and hopeful like you. Don't be afraid of the industry, embrace it and enjoy it we just want you to be INFORMED!
